Nature Now

YOU

ARE

NATURE

It’s up to us.

You have a role to play.

I am Nature. You are too.

You are Nature. Nature’s inside you. She’s all around you. Nature is all of us.

That’s all of us, people. Birds and bugs and flowers and fish, not just you humans. People are just one part of Me.

Without Nature, wild and flourishing, Earth would just be an empty desert. There’d be no human cities, no health or wealth, no laughter. Life would be a lot less fun.

I know. Deep down you get it. But these days, everyone’s so busy, sometimes a person needs reminding.

You’re a part of me, a part of Nature. You matter to me, and I matter to you. And you probably know I’m in some trouble right now.

But every day, heroes are stepping up to give Nature back the space I need to be strong. Strong for you. For your kids. For all of us — today and tomorrow.

You can be one of those heroes.

Did you know that across the planet many creatures are in decline? “But I can see plenty of creatures out there!” you might say.
The World Wildlife Fund’s recent Living Planet Report 2022 found that monitored animal populations spanning mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish (vertebrates) have decreased by an average of 69% since 1970.
Sometimes we cannot always see the changes occurring around us and we need to rethink how we see our world. Yes, there may be a lot of raccoons in your yard or sparrows in the park, but there’s a lot we never see. We need to look closer and reconsider our place in Nature. After all, you are Nature too. We all know trees play a critical role in Nature. But, did you know that Canada accounts for about 30% of the world’s total trees?
That equals about 318 billion trees!
And, last year, in 2023, we saw 5% of them lost to record-breaking forest fires nationwide. That’s around 15 billion trees lost to fire over an area roughly the size of Greece.
Trees are life. Trees are Nature. You are Nature. Isn’t it time we started looking at the planet in a new way, for all creatures, including humans? Learn more here.
